Want or Need???

A few weeks before my birthday, Tibby asked me what I wanted for my birthday and for Christmas--Key word was wanted. I said my usual stuff like-for you to love me forever, the girls to never fight...etc. After him asking a few more times, I finally gave him a few ideas. More perfume. He said that would not work out because he would not be going to St. Cloud. New comforter set for our bed. He said, how many do you need! Yes, I have a few and I do not NEED another one but I WANT another one. I usually never buy or ask for things that I can get by with out but I really did want a new comforter. And I got one!!! And I love it!!! Good choice Tibby, you once again spoiled me!!

The monkey blanket under my snowball was Meggz gift to Tibby.

I wish......

Sometimes I wish that I could take my girls back in time with me for a day. I would want them to...
...enjoy a piece of my gma W's chocolate cake with the thick, fudge-like
frosting
...watch my gma N playing my play set of drums.
...see how styling my dad looked in his baby blue leisure suit.
...see how fashionalbe my mom looked in her wig and daingle earrings, all ready to go dancing.
...smell the 'homemade bread smell' on my mom when she got home from work as a school cook.
...watch my dad act like bacon frying in the pan. (he wouldn't do that anymore)
...go Christmas caroling with the cattle truck and my dad driving it dressed like Santa.

Winter Wonderland

Last Wednesday night was Meggz Christmas concert--Winter Wonderland. What a show! Each year Mrs. S does an awesome job at showing the talents of all the Bville students. The concerts usually last 2 or more hours, but worth it! It is not only the band but also the choir. Jazz band, pop singers, men's ensemble and the triple trio also perform.

What makes it the BEST show around? As the choir sings the final song of the night, Silent Night, the lights dim, and the stage curtains open to show the nativity!! This is all happening as a narrator reads the Christmas story from the Bible. I wonder how many public schools allow this as part of their 'Winter' celebrations? The nativity is live--minus the animals. Elementary students play the parts. Emers had been one of the angels when she was in first grade and Mary when she was in sixth.

I love this part of the concert--what a great way to start our Christmas celebration.

My little drummer boy

I saw him for the first time in 1984. I was in high school band. It was during class and I was probably causing a disruption (whole other story). He was sitting, with his chair tipped against the wall, under the clock, arms crossed, holding his drum sticks. Eyes so dark that they looked black. Short, dark, thick hair. Wow, I found my tall, dark, handsome prince. I did not know his name, what grade he was in and I did not remember ever seeing him before. Well, it did not take me long to find out his name and that he was a year younger than me. But it did take a while to get him to ask me out (about a year).

Since he was in the percussion section of the band, I quickly decided his pet name would be 'my little drummer boy'. He will try telling you that during the year of me bugging him, that I kicked him and his friends out of their seats on a band trip--I did not. He will say that I pinched his butt--I did not.

Our first date was on my senior band trip. We were at a museum in Chicago. He paid for my ticket to go on a mine ride, I think it was $1. We dated for a year and then broke up for two--he will tell you that I would not talk to him--again not true. I was showing him who was in charge.

Our first-second date was to the movie 'Money Pit'. He will tell you that I would not kiss him goodbye--that is true. I knew then, what I know now, and what I knew when I saw him sitting under the clock--LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT--he just didn't know it in band!

We have been trough alot together---that would be a very long blog to tell about it all--and I still know I would never survive without him. OK, I am sure I would, but I don't want to. And yes even though I think he is near perfect there are things that bug me. After all these years he still can't shut dresser drawers all the way. And sometimes, while he is watching TV, he rubs his toes together and the noise seems to get louder and louder.

At Christmas time when we decorate, some of my little drummer boys are included in the decorations too. This is one special one that always goes out.

Tibby painted this in 1976. He was about 7 years old. See, even back then he knew he would be 'my little drummer boy' (sorry that it is side ways)

Santa woke me up.

Last night I worked and then when to the Cancer Center with gpa, gma and sister #1. Since I did not have any sleep, while gpa was in having some kinda test I was going to lay in a waiting room chair and sleep. Gma went in with gpa and I thought sister #1 was going to watch out for me while I slept. No, she did not!!! I woke up a few times to see her on her phone, watching TV, and at one point she was gone shopping at the book fair in the lobby. Not much of a babysitter. Then, while I was in a deep sleep I was woken by a strangers voice!!! I opened my eyes and it was Santa Clause looking at me!!! I was really sleepy and don't remember what he said but sister #1 said he asked me if he scared me. He was kind enough to leave me a piece of candy on the arm of the chair. When I woke up when gpa was done I got to enjoy the chocolate Santa left me and it was yummy. I wonder if he will leave me more on Christmas Eve?

No more popcorn.

Popcorn season is over for us. Or should I say--basketball season! Meggz got really, really upset and left the bench. Even though she would like to tell the coach what she thinks of him, I do not think she would have the guts to do it. She was mad, upset, crying, pissed, and the list goes on. She wanted to quit but at the same time did not want to.

So half way into the first half of the game--we, including gma, packed up and left. As we were getting into the blazer Emers says, "Does this mean that I'm done too?" Yes, we left her quit too.

Sooooooooooooo........here are some of the pictures I took last night, that I was so proud of, using my new camera. We were going to use some for our Christmas card. Now I don't know what I'll do.

Picture this.....

As you already know it is very cold out side. That means it is cold in our room above the garage. This is the room that Tibby uses as his "MANrfacturing room" for our shop. Here is the story....

I am in the kitchen doing supper dishes. Tibby walks in and says, "Do I have any slippers?" Wow--that shocked me. I never thought I'd hear him ask for slippers. I responded with, "I have known you for years and you have never had slippers!" He then explained that the floor was cold in his MANrfacturing room and he did not want to wear his shoes up there. That sounded logically (but weird) to me so I told him that my Mickey Mouse slippers were way too big for me so they might fit him. As he left the kitchen I followed. He went directly into our bedroom and put on my baby blue, somewhat fuzzy, Mickey Mouse slippers!!

Now what was really funny was Meggz reaction. She had been in the bathroom, not hearing our conversation, and came out at the same time as Tibby did from our room. She looked down at his feet and said, "So, are you the Mom of the house now or what?"
OMG did I ever laugh. I hope you find this as funny as we did.

Picture it--Tibby is now upstairs "sewing" wearing my Mickey Mouse slippers.

Who would drive that far?!

Jeremy would!!! Yesterday Jeremy drove from his house, picked up his mom and then drove to Bville to watch Meggz's basketball team vs. his home town. When Meggz told me that she left him a message about the game I told her not to be disappointed if he did not come because of the distance to drive. Well, he not only made it to the game--I think he made Meggz the happiest player there. She did not get much court time but having her gma, aunt and cousin there more than made up for it. She did score 2 points in the JV game. Both JV and varsity lost to Sebeka.

Emers didn't play due to the other school not having a C-squad. Tonight Meggz is in Swanville playing.

And the popcorn? I only gave it a 4. Bad taste, oily fingers, yuk! Something must have happened because it is usually better than that.

Do you see the anticipation on Meggz face while she waited for Betsy to arrive!!!

Have you ever wondered.....

why your garage door will not go down, even when you keep pushing button?

It might be because your husband is in the garage, pushing the button, trying to keep the door open, yelling at you. ?????? Really? Who can hear someone yelling when you are in the car, with the windows up, with the kids talking, with the radio on, and your backing onto the street?

I thought it was kinda funny but for some reason Tibby doesn't always share my sense of humor.

Popcorn Season has started.

It is official--popcorn, or as most call it, basketball season has started. The girls had their first games last night. And why do I call it popcorn season? Because, I not only love watching the girls, I like to eat the popcorn. I am kinda like the unofficial 'popcorn taste tester'. Some schools sell foam with mega amounts of salt, some use last years oil and some get it right.

Emers plays on the C-squad. She started last night and played most of the game. Her shorts were kind of big for her so at times it looked like she was worried they might fall down. One of the girls on the other team shoved her butt into Emers which I don't think made a very good impression on Emers. We didn't watch her whole game cuz we left it early to go to another gym to watch the J.V. game. C-squad won!

Meggz started the JV game and played most of the time. Nothing really exciting in this game. She did good and fouled twice. We like when she fouls because that means she is being aggressive. Tibby usually pays them for fouls--kinda weird but it helps. JV lost.

The highlight of the night was Meggz first night on the varsity team. She looked somewhat nervous when the team ran out to do their warm-ups. She did good--no trips or falls! And she played the last 3 minutes of the game. Emers says she only played because they were already losing. Sounds like 'sister love' doesn't it? Varsity lost.

And the popcorn? I give it a 7 out of 10. And I really do wish that more schools sold Diet Coke instead of Pepsi.
