Thank you!

Thanks to anyone that ordered sandwiches to help support Meggz post prom fundraiser. I just got the phone call that the Junior class sold a total of 1183. This will probably be enough that we won't have to have any more fundraisers for this.

Now we only have to make the sandwiches. Since Tibby and I are on the committee, we will be there seeing that your sandwich is made the right way!! Thanks Again!

Since this was the only night Meggz was home, we decided to carve our pumpkins that we grew in our garden this year. We got 4 nice sized ones, the biggest went to Mom and Dad's house. Of the ones pictured here-the biggest belongs to Meggz, the middle one is mine, smallest is Emers.

After digging in the pumpkin's blood and gutts this is what we ended up with.

What you can't see in the dark picture is Meggz still smiling. For some reason she though she would show up in the picture.???

Birthdays and Babies

This past weekend was my dad's birthday. My OLDEST sister's family (all except child #4) and my family took dinner to mom and dad's house to celebrate dad's 74th birthday! Dad had his choice if he wanted to go out for supper or eat in. I think eating in was the best choice since then we could visit and enjoy the little kids.

Since most of my sister's family was there, that meant TWO babies. Anyone that knows me well knows that I LOVE babies. So I got to be a baby hog and most of the time I was there I was holding a baby and watching the entertainment of her oldest two granddaughters. Even though it was very enjoyable it also made me feel old. My two nieces did most of the cleanup and us older generation got to rest.

It is bitter sweet to see my nieces and nephews growing up and become parents themselves. It seems like only yesterday that they were the entertainment in the middle of the living room floor.

I made it through the first night

The first night at my new job went great. Hopefully it stays that way. The worst part of the night was that the lady training me not only has my same first name but we were also wearing the same scrub top. I HATE when that happens. The most embarassing part--people asked if we planned it! Come on now, I am 41 years old and this other Tammy seems somewhat close to my age. Do people that age still like to dress alike? I didn't think so. I am hoping that it doesn't happen again.

I'm scared!!!

What if I don't like my new employer? What if I do not care for the people I have to work with? What if they do not care for me? What if I hate the hours?--I already do!!

I will be working the overnight shift, something I have done for years. But, do I like it--NO! Would I rather work days or evenings?-- NO!!

About my co-workers. I don't know them but I might. Does that make any sense to you? After being in business in the area for past years and now the present, I know alot of people but not by their names, only their faces. So, what if when I get to work it is all a bunch of faces that I do not care to work with. What do I do then. I can't do anything cuz Tibby says that I have to like this job. My mommy says I have to like this job. My check book says that I have to like this job.

Also about the residents. Some of them were past customers of ours. Tibby says not to worry about it. Mommy says not to worry about it. My check book doesn't really give a rip. (get it--rip--like you 'rip' out the checks--never mind.) My response to Tibby was, How would you like to wash 'insert name here' bottom area after serving her breakfast for so many years? I think he go my point, but not really.

My job isn't really about washing bottom areas. Alot of people associate with being a CNA. I really don't think about it. I tend to get too emotionally connected to these people. So, since some of the residents already have a place in my heart it will only get worse. Yes, I know I should look at it that I am trying to keep these people happy during their last days. But that is kinda easier said than done.

Well any ways, please wish me luck to night!!!! I will be working from 10 pm to 6:30 am.

I got a job!!!

I just got off the phone with the care center here in town. They offered and I accepted a job. I am hoping that this is a more 'caring' care center than the one I had just worked at.

If you need any 'insider' tips on care centers before you place a loved one there--rememeber to ask someone that has worked in long term care first. Not all of them are as good as they look.

Anyway, it will be good to be employeed again and so close to home. This means that I can even walk the few blocks, if I feel like it. Just think of the gas money I'll save!

Will you help Meggz?

Meggz is planning to go to her junior prom. She already has a date if nothing changes. Now I am sure you are asking yourself some questions. Yes-she is already a junior. No- he really isn't a boyfriend (I don't think). He is a foreign exchange student. His name is Peter. He is from near Italy. He is cute.

Now about the help. She will need to buy a dress-but that is not were your help comes in. She is taking orders for 3-meat croissants as a fund raiser for the post prom party. The junior class needs to raise enough money to have an all night party. The sandwiches are $3 each. It will be ham, turkey, roast beef and cheese on a crosisant. Orders are being taken until Oct 23. Delivery will be Nov 4, in time for deer hunting. Remember they will freeze good too.

About $2.5o from each sandwich will go towards their fund. Just call, email, blog us with any questions or/and orders.

Getting to know us

Emers---14, 9th grade, basketball player, track runner, quite, shy, meningtis survivor.
Although I say that she is quite and shy any one that has never seen the flip side of her is truly missing out----she has an awesome sense of humor!!!

Meggz---16, 11th grade, non-driver, basketball and softball player, outgoing, waitress, should
have been blonde.
Most anyone can get her to believe just about anything---but we would not want her to change. To truly be so innocent must be a wonderful feeling!!!!

Tibby---40, bald, tall, strong, handsome, smart, highschool sweetheart, best friend, self-employeed.
If you ever see Tibby wearing a baseball hat it must be raining out--he hates when water "pings off of his head".

you can't always teach an old dog new tricks

Did you know when the first time was that I used a computer? Probably the late 1980's. I was in college and needed a book from the library. I had use the computer to find the book I wanted. Sadly, that library trip took much longer than it should have had they just let me use the old fashioned card catolog.

Now I am blogging!?!?!?!? But guess who had to help me. You got it, Meggz and Emers, my teenageed daughters. This isn't the first time they have helped me as you probably already guessed.

Why do I want to blog??? #1 I have nothing else to do--lost my job last week. #2 I enjoy following my two nieces blogs. #3 i think i need to get caught up with the 2000's before they pass me by.
